Herbal Remedies
Herbs are a common ingredient in many homemade remedies. They are used to cure a variety of ailments. While herbal remedies aren’t backed by the Food and Drug Administration, many people swear by them, claiming herbal remedies have done for them what over the counter and prescription items couldn’t.
Have you ever had a child cry through the night with an ear infection? It can be upsetting to have to wait until morning to call the doctor for an appointment, and then pick up a prescription of antibiotics. You can make a herbal remedy for your child quickly and easily to relieve the pain.
This herbal remedy requires two cups of water, a teaspoon each of Echinacea Root, Licorice Root, and Barkberry Bark. Place all the ingredients in a pan and boil on the stove. Let the pan sit for about 20 minutes, then remove the herbs. Have the child drink one cup of the tea. You can mix it with juice for a better flavor.
We have all had busy days where we developed a headache that just wouldn’t relent. Ginger is a great herbal remedy for headaches. You will need one part each of ginger, cinnamon, castor root, and clove. Mix the ingredients together into a paste, and then apply the paste to your forehead.
For those who suffer from arthritis and back pain, especially the elderly, a herbal remedy can take away the pain. You will need one teaspoon each of boneset, skullcap, white yarrow, and psyllium seed. In addition, you are going to need water and either honey or corn syrup. Place each of the herbs into a pan and simmer for ½ hour. Strain the herbs and add the honey or corn syrup for taste. Drink a few cups for a pain free day.
There are herbal remedies available for most any ailment you can think of. You can purchase books on home remedies or research them on the internet. Herbs to make these remedies can be purchased at health food stores or on the internet. It is a good idea to only use one herbal remedy at a time so you can find out the effect it has on you. You should consult a doctor before taking a herbal remedy with an prescription drugs.
